Six Books Into the New Year and Yes, I'm Behind on the Blog

2015 took off with quite a bang as far as reading goes. I'm six books in now (out of the 50 I pledged to read in my Goodreads Challenge), putting me two books ahead of schedule for the year, which is good, because I have a barrage of midterms coming up and my more leisurely literary pursuits are probably going to fall by the wayside, with the exception of the time I spend on the bus.

Side note: While I'm talking about the bus, I highly recommend book lights to anyone who takes public transit. I was forever frustrated by the fact that my bus drivers tended to turn the lights off during evening rides, making it impossible or at least nearly so to read by the light of passing streetlamps. I got a flexible book light from Indigo and my evening ride home is so much more enjoyable now! Not to mention that I get to enjoy the envious looks from other people on the bus who have taken as long as I had to figure out that a book light might be a nice addition to their travel time.

Back on the subject of books, my speedy start to this year is mostly the result of my receiving the Mistborn trilogy by Brian Sanderson as a Christmas gift. A review is imminent, but let me just say that those books kept me utterly captivated and I would highly recommend them to anyone who likes fantasy. I was lucky to get the trilogy all at once, and I can't imagine the agony that the earliest batch of readers went through, having to wait for the next installment to come out.

My other three reads were Let the Right One In, Shadowland, and What Angels Fear, all of which I enjoyed very much and intend to review. It's been a good start to the year and I hope this streak of good books keeps up!
